While my son was serving a mission in Torreon, Mexico, I wrote a compilation of musings that related events, insights, memories, activities, observations, and thoughts to the scriptures. I could easily see that everything that happens in life has spiritual overtones.
From the back cover of the book: “This volume reflects a few of the author’s thoughts and insights while her son was spending “the best two years” of his life serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Torreon, Mexico. Turning to the scriptures as a way of better coping with his absence, she was soon reminded that whether a person needed a lesson in faith, a reminder to be grateful, or a proverb on the value of hard work, she could find the answer within these divine pages. Applying scripture references from the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine and Covenants to everyday life, Musings underscores the importance of the sacred works in finding solace, inspiration, and guidance.”
If you want to see just how relevant the scriptures are to our daily lives, this book will help you. You can order it online at www.Amazon.com, (http://www.amazon.com/Musings-Missionary-Mom-Jayne-Bowers/dp/1420888927). If this link doesn’t work, then you can either type in my name (Jayne Bowers) or the name of the book. Other online sites are Barnes and Noble, Borders, and AuthorHouse.

Thanks for responding. As it is now almost 4 PM eastern standard time, I do not think I got the job. It is alright. I just haven’t figured out how I can earn steady money yet. Sometimes I let that get to me despite an impressive career. I too have a few books out now. One is a reprint, the other is a new collection of short stories.
I did not know where else to place a comment, sorry if this is the wrong place. I am very new to this.

Nice to hear from you. If not this job, then there’s another one out there…probably a better one.
I’d love to know more about your books. I went to a writers’ conference a couple of weeks ago, and one of the things that was reinforced over and over again is that writers need to support each other.

Jayne, you are such a sweetheart and supportive, whether writers or otherwise. Just want you to know how marvelous I think you are in that you take so much time to try and “spread peace and goodwill”.
In His Love.

Me??? You’re the one who’s so consistently supportive and spiritual. ALL of your posts reflect your giant soul and heart whereas mine do not. It’s going to be neat to meet in person and do some bargain shopping next month!

Spoken like a true friend! Thanks for the vote of confidence. The conference that I attended a month ago encouraged self-promotion so I’m trying to be a little bolder.

Nikki, You’re a sweetheart. Thanks. Maybe I’ll put you in my next book. I’m doing little bits and pieces of writings to go in two eventual books, one on conversion stories and the other on love. Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve been fascinated about what brings couples together, what keeps them together (or not), how they communicate, and so forth. Do you and DH have a special story?
